Thank you for your email dated 15 January 2010 regarding the “IKF Word Championship” and “KPWT World Cup”.

I can confirm that the IKA is the only currently International Kiteboarding association recognized by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF), the World Governing Body for the Sport of Sailing as recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

ISAF will not recognize the IKF or KPWT “World” events and as such ISAF will make this fact clear to our Member National Authorities.
According to ISAF regulation 19.4.1(c) the IKF and KPWT events are prohibited events if they continue to use the word “World”, either in the title of the event or otherwise.
Sailors who participate in the IKF and KPWT events may have difficulty entering and competing in the International IKA World Tour or other IKA National events as the IKA may prohibit their entry or ultimately they may have their ISAF eligibility suspended according to ISAF regulation 19.4.
